The Taylor 614CE Model is a beautiful acoustic guitar crafted with only top quality parts. When Taylor upgraded the 600 recently, they went through and added in some key updates that don't change the direction of this stunning instrument but just make it that little bit better
New Changes
The updates to the instruments didn't change the way this guitar sounds but how it looks and feels. The entire guitar now has a gloss finish which covers the still natural top and the new sugar-brown stained back and sides that give off a traditional darker wood look.
In terms of smaller changes you also have new Ivoroid fretboard inlays and striped ebony pickguard that work fantastically visually with the new stained back and sides look that they have gone for.
Designed to Cut
A lot of acoustic guitars sound amazing in a small band but when you put it in a more demanding environment with drums, bass and other guitars it is easy to get lost in the mix if your guitar sound is too warm. If you want to cut through the mix of your live band take a good look at this Taylor 614ce. It is made with a maple back and sides with torrefied sitka spruce top in a Grand Auditorium cut that gives off a bright sound with a quick decay which makes it really stand out in a lot of different band situations.
This ability to cut through comes through on the pickup system as well which uses Taylors own Expression System 2 preamp and pickup combination which delivers a more natural sound through your PA or amplifier of choice.
Taylor have spent years developing this system and outside of putting a microphone in front of a guitar this is one of the best ways to capture the sound of your guitar.
Comfortable To Play
A guitar that is annoying or uncomfortable to play will mean that you just don’t want to play it. The 614ce plays wonderfully however thanks to its medium sized body and superbly carved maple neck with ebony fingerboard. The maple accentuates the bright sound of the body and creates a really comfortable playing surface while the famously fast ebony fingerboard means nothing gets in the way of what you want to play.
Taylor's revolutionary V bracing was introduced in 2018. Compared with the traditional X bracing used on the vast majority of their catalogue, the V bracing offers improved volume, projection and harmonic richness. Upon release, it was met with huge acclaim, credited with totally changing the tone of a guitar.
As the name suggests, the V bracing uses two longer bits of wood in a V formation, rather than the traditional X crossover bracing. Developed by master guitar designer Andy Powers, it allows the top tonewood (soundboard) to be more flexible, vibrating more freely and subsequently producing a fuller tone!
